The American Eagle Coin Program was started in 1986
It began with minting gold and silver bullion coins for investors. Since its beginning, uncirculated and proof coins have been added for collectors.
In 1997, the platinum coins were first introduced.
In 2017, palladium was added to the lineup.
Easily the most collected coin in the world, the American Silver Eagle reigns at the top of the bullion coin charts. The gold and silver Eagles will be getting redesigns this year (2021). Each one will be getting a new reverse design.
